Collagen Induction Therapy: How Microneedling Renews Your Skin

Collagen induction therapy, also called microneedling, uses fine needles to trigger your skin’s own repair. Here is how it works, what it treats and how many sessions you need.
Collagen induction therapy is the medical name for microneedling. A device makes thousands of fine, controlled channels in your skin, and your skin answers by producing new collagen and elastin. At PureSkin we use it for acne scars, enlarged pores, fine lines and dull, uneven skin.
How it works
Each channel is a tiny, controlled injury that closes within hours. Your skin reads it as damage and starts repairing: blood flow increases, growth factors arrive, and fibroblasts lay down fresh collagen over the next six to twelve weeks. The new collagen thickens and smooths the skin from within.
The channels also let serums reach deeper than they can through intact skin. We finish each session with a soothing serum, or with exosomes if you choose the upgrade, followed by LED light therapy to calm redness.
What it treats
- Acne scars and other textured scarring
- Enlarged pores
- Fine lines and early wrinkles
- Dull skin and uneven tone
- Stretch marks on the body
What a session feels like
We cleanse your skin and apply numbing cream for about 30 minutes. The device then passes over each area. You feel a light scratching or vibration, strongest over bony areas like the forehead. Needle depth changes across your face: shallow on thin skin around the eyes, deeper over scarring on the cheeks. The treatment itself takes 20 to 30 minutes.
Downtime and aftercare
Your skin looks pink, like mild sunburn, for one to two days. Most clients go back to work the next day.
- Skip make-up for 24 hours
- Avoid exercise, saunas and swimming for 48 hours
- Stop retinoids and exfoliating acids for five days
- Wear SPF 30 or higher every day
How many sessions you need
You see a brighter glow within a week of one session. For scarring and deeper texture, plan a course of three to six sessions, four weeks apart. Collagen keeps building for about three months after your last session, so the final result arrives well after the course ends.
Who should not have microneedling
We do not treat active acne, eczema or infection in the area, or clients who are pregnant or have taken isotretinoin in the last six months. If you have a history of keloid scarring, tell us at your consultation.
