Most people book an anti-wrinkle appointment with one question: which treatment will soften my lines? The answer depends on how your lines formed, and a practitioner can only judge that by looking at your face in person. At PureSkin, that consultation is free.
Two kinds of lines
Expression lines appear when muscles contract. Frowning creates the vertical lines between your brows, raising your eyebrows creates forehead lines, and smiling creates crow’s feet. Over years of repetition these lines start to show when your face is at rest.
Static lines come from changes in the skin itself. Collagen, elastin and hydration fall with age and sun exposure, and the skin creases more easily. These lines are visible whether your face moves or not.
Most faces have both. A frown line that has been there for ten years usually has a muscle component and a skin component, and treating one alone gives half the result.
What happens at your consultation
- Medical history. Your practitioner asks about medicines, allergies, pregnancy, neuromuscular conditions and any previous treatments. Some options need a prescription, and a qualified prescriber can only issue one after assessing you face to face.
- Your lines at rest and in motion. You frown, smile and raise your brows while your practitioner watches how each muscle moves and where the skin creases.
- Your plan. You get a written plan covering the treatment that suits each area, the number of sessions and the price. If a skin treatment will do more for your lines than an injectable, your practitioner says so.
- Time to decide. There is no pressure to book on the day.
